Sampha and Yussef Dayes lead 2024’s Ivor Novello Award nominees with two apiece; RAYE is in the running for Best Album. The U.K. trophyfest, as you know, hails the best in songwriting and composition.
Sampha and Dayes are also up for Best Album with Lahai and Black Classical Music, respectively. RAYE will compete with her BRIT Award-winning debut, My 21st Century Blues. Others in the category include Crazymad, For Me by CMAT and False Lankum by Lankum.
The second nod for Sampha and Dayes is for “Spirit 2.0,” which they co-wrote, in the Best Song Musically and Lyrically category.

Others in the running in assorted categories include Jungle, Fred again.. and Brian Eno, Tyla, Blur and Dave & Central Cee.
The Rising Star award will be a battle between singer-songwriters Blair Davie, Chrissi and Elmiene, indie/rap act Master Peace and hip-hop artist Nino SLG.
This year, 77 songwriters and composers have received Ivor nominations, 60% first-time nominees. The awards will take place in London on 5/23.
